Tomato Sauce and Stomach Acidity.
When you are a Pasta lover and you like pasta with tomato sauce, after a good meal, if you suffer from acid problems, you will need to take an Antacid medication, because of the tomato sauce.

There is a way to make friendly tomato sauce for your stomach. Here is a recipe I did when I started to receive claims about this problem.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 ounce of Tomato Paste
  • 2 peeled Garlic cloves
  • 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 24 ounce of Milk
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • Salt
  1. Step 1

In a saucepan pour the tomato paste with the Extra Virgin Olive oil, Sugar, Milk, Bay leaves, Garlic and Salt.

  2. Step 2

Mix well, cover and heat at High for 1 minute and then simmer for about 15 - 20 minutes.

  3. Step 3

The Tomato sauce does not have to boil at any given time.
After the sauce is ready to serve, don’t forget to take out the Garlic and the Bay leaves, so your tomato sauce, will taste excellent.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tomatoes were my favorite food for many years and one day a family member started to suffer from acidity. At that time I didn’t know how bad tomatoes can be for you when you have acid problems or arthritis. Raw tomatoes are worse than cooked because the cooking process helps to eliminate or minimize its bad effects. The only raw tomatoes I can eat, are the cherry or grape, which are sweet. Tomato sauce made with milk and sugar has an incredibly good taste, you have to try it not only if you suffer from acidity or arthritis, but also because it is GOOD!!

on 9/28/2008 Tomato acid, will trigger an acid reflux in your stomach if you have that kind of acid reflux problems. Try to eat lasagna , pasta, or anything with tomato sauce with and without my sauce recipe and you will see the difference later.

on 9/27/2008 If you have acid reflux, the small amount of acidity in tomato sauce will not change anything. Stomach acid can have a pH around say 2 where tomato sauce might be 5. That means stomach acid is a thousand times more acidic. Reflux/heartburn are not worsened by "acidic foods" - a common myth - meat and alcohol for example give me worse reflux and they are neutral foods more or less.
