This nation is in turmoil in many areas. The things to pray for are endless and often overwhelming. Not knowing whether to pray for the President, crime, economy, and more gives some people the feeling that it is all too much, so they don't pray at all. Instead of not praying or praying generally, there is a way to pray specifically for the nation. Organization is the key.
Get a notebook, prayer journal, index cards, or anything else you can write your prayers on to keep them in order and to write scripture or specific needs. Also, leave room to record answers to your prayers.
2
Pray about what God has put in your heart to pray about in regards to the nation. Listening prayer is so important. You may also be lead to pray while reading the newspaper or listening to the news.
3
If you are to pray for the President, think about the different areas of his life such as family, Congress, meetings, health, the war or whatever else God leads you to pray for him. Do some research to find out what issues and situations need prayer.
4
List the prayers you have said for the President. Find scripture in the Bible that speaks to your request. You could do a key word search on BibleGateway to find the topics in the Bible that you would like to pray about for the President. Perhaps a situation in the country has come to mind. Pray about that and again find scripture to go with it. Write these topics and requests on a page or index card for that day. This could be your Monday prayer list.
5
For the next day, follow Steps 2 through 4, and so on for each day of the week. When you reach seven days, this does not mean that these prayer requests are the only ones you can pray about, you can add or delete as you feel led.
6
Record the answers to your prayers on the request page or card. Seeing the answers gives encouragement to pray more. The more peopple pray, the more they know God and experience Him.
Tips & Warnings
Research can be done on news sites, or governmental sites on the Internet.
Do not be discouraged if you miss a day. Just begin again the next day.
