  • Bible

Step1
People need to have a right attitude and approach to life to grow in wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. God will grant His wisdom to those who seek Him, just as He granted it to Solomon. In Proverbs, several verses talk of obtaining wisdom such as:
* Proverbs 4:7 (Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding) shows to make it a top priority.
* Proverbs 6:6 (Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!) shows that observing the wise is a great way to get wisdom.
* Proverbs 13:20 (He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm) shows that associating with the wise is good.
* Proverbs 19:20 (Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise) shows accepting instruction is helpful.
* Proverbs 15:31 (He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise) shows accepting correction will also be helpful in the growing process of wisdom.
Step2
There are words of wisdom given in Proverbs for the wise in relation to their attitude and what they are to do with the wisdom:
* Proverbs 23:19 (Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path) speaks about the attitude and focus those with wisdom should have.
* Proverbs 10:14 (Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin) shows the wise are to store up wisdom.
* Proverbs 15:7 (The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools) shows that wisdom should be spread.
* Proverbs 11:2 (When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom) tells that humility is important in wisdom.
* Proverbs 13:10 (Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice) shows that it is wise to take advice.
Step3
You will be greatly rewarded in seeking wisdom from God. Proverbs 9:12 says, "If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you." Wisdom not only blesses you, but those around you.

on 11/27/2007 I am supprised you did not use this verse James 1:5-6 " If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. "
