There are times in everyone’s life where they need a desert or a side dish that is incredibly delicious but easily made within minutes. My mother has one such recipe and has been gracious enough to let me share it with the ehow.com community. Enjoy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pint of sour cream
  • 2 small bags of miniature marshmallows
  • 2 small bags of shredded coconut
  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 3 11 oz. cans of pineapple tidbits
  • 3 11 oz. cans of mandarin oranges
  • Maraschino cherries
  1. Step 1

Strain the fruit well, making sure that all of the juices are gone, otherwise the Ambrosia will turn extremely soggy.

  2. Step 2

Crush the walnuts well and then mix all of the ingredients in a bowl thoroughly. Refrigerate and garnish with the cherries just before serving.

    Serves about 20.

  3. Step 3

Refrigerate and garnish with the cherries just before serving.

    Serves about 20.

Tips & Warnings
  • The Ambrosia is certainly sweet enough to be used as a desert but it is also hearty enough to be presented as a side dish.
  • You may use light sour cream to reduce the calories, there is not a difference in taste.
