Things You'll Need:
- Professional attitude
- Positive attitude
- Persistence
-
Step 1
No matter what field you're trying to break into, it is important to research what connections you may have, even if you're not aware of it. For example, if you're trying to become a film director your family, friends, or co-workers may know someone who may be in the film industry and they may be willing to get you work (even if it's not as a director it may be relative work to where you can eventually become promoted as a director).
-
Step 2
It is also important to build up a resume/reel of examples to show. If you do get the big interview that you were hoping for, it is important that you have relative work experience. Even if it's work you did on your own, it still shows motivation.
-
Step 3
It is also important to move to a location relative to where there is jobs available in the field you are hoping to get into. For example, if you were trying to become an art teacher, you would want to research locations that may be desperate to hire teachers and or have a good art program.

Step 4
Working as an intern or an apprentice is also a good way to get your foot in the door and will allow you to network with people that can possibly recommend you for future work. Even though many times there is no pay or the pay isn't much, many internships can be part-time, which would allow you to be able to work another part-time job.
