How to Reduce Under-eye Wrinkles

You know you're getting older when you look in the mirror and see those first few wrinkles, under and around your eyes. A little known fact about eyes and wrinkle care is that there are no oil glands on the skin surrounding your eyes. This is the reason most people see their wrinkles there first, usually appearing as smile lines around the eye or gentle creases underneath the eye. You can't stop the process of aging, but with proper care including a daily moisturizing routine, you can keep your eyes looking years younger.

From Quick Guide: Stay Young
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good moisturizer with a top ingredient of Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Sunscreen SPF 30
  • Hat with wide brim
  • Sunglasses
  1. Step 1

Begin and maintain a morning and nighttime ritual of gently cleansing entire eye orbit with a mild exfoliant. Pat dry.

  2. Step 2

Apply moisturizer with a primary ingredient of Hyaluronate. Lanolin is also decent, but will not be as effective. Hyaluronate permeates the skin deeply and more readily and stays in the skin.

  3. Step 3

When outside, whether it's sunny or cloudy, wear a wide-brimmed hat and polarized sunglasses. Sun screen is also helpful. If swimming, rinse off chlorine and remoisturize after using the pool. Avoid prime hours in the sun, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., unless the face is covered with the shade of a hat.

  4. Step 4

Make sure to get adequate rest each night.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fancy lotions aren't necessary to invigorate the eye area. A few slices of cucumber from your fridge and a half hour of quiet rest will have the same effect.
  • Wearing sunglasses helps avoid the lines caused by squinting.
  • Be careful when applying any moisturizer close to your eye to avoid getting it in your eye and causing irritation.
  • When applying makeup, use minimal amount. Heavy makeup tends to accentuate deep lines under the eye.
