How To: Eat Kiwi Fruit

Slice your kiwi in half to enjoy it alone.

Packed with vitamin C and fiber, kiwi fruit is a delicious addition to your healthy diet. You can add kiwi fruit as a topping on yogurt or granola or just enjoy the fruit by itself. Kiwi fruit are covered with a brown skin that is slightly fuzzy and have green flesh and black seeds inside. While the kiwi fruit's skin is edible, you may find it tough or irritating to your throat. Remove the skin entirely or just remove the fuzz from the skin to enjoy the benefits of the fruit.

Instructions

1. Use a paring knife to peel the skin from the kiwi. Peel the skin in sections as you would peel a potato. Once the skin has been removed, slice the kiwi in chunks or slices and use as a topping.

2. Cut the kiwi in half widthwise with a small knife. Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh to eat the kiwi on its own.

3. Scrape off the fuzzy layer from the skin using a small knife. Run the knife gently over the skin without breaking the skin. Chop or slice your kiwi or eat it as is.

Tips & Warnings

• Kiwi skin contains high levels of flavonoids and antioxidants, so eat the skin for added benefits.

• The hairs on kiwi skin can trap debris and pesticides, so if you're unsure of the origin of your kiwis, peel the skin off before eating.
