How to Freeze Cookies

Couldn't sleep last night? Bake when you're angry? Bake when you're happy? High on crystal meth? Whatever the reason, you have 6 dozen cookies that will go bad - what to do? Freeze them of course! But how???

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Freezer (duh)
  • An excess of cookies (double duh)
  • Freezer Bags
  • Sharpie pen
  • Possibly Wax Paper

Step1
Make sure cookies are cooled off. If you don't, you'll get that steamy look to your freezer bags. It looks cool, but its not good for your cookies. Not sure why, but trust me on this. Also, you don't want melty plastic freezer bags.
Step2
Place cookies, a dozen at a time, into freezer bags. You can also use a tupperware container (separate layers of cookies with wax paper). My mom does this, but she also has about a million square feet of freezer space (which is why she makes about 70 batches of cookies at a time). I prefer bags, because it leaves more room for my Lean Cuisines and Pizza for Ones.
Step3
Label your cookies! This is helpful when freezing anything. But no one wants cookies from last year - so label them properly!

Tips & Warnings

  • Cookies will last frozen for about 6 months.
  • If you're making cookies for me, I like chocolate chip.
  • Make sure to buy freezer bags and not sandwich bags. Sandwich bags are thinner and will not block freezer burn.

on 11/18/2007 I thought this article was very helpful as I’m attending a cookie exchange and will be bringing home six dozen cookies which I will need to freeze and use during the Christmas holidays. However I do think the introduction was very inappropriate when the question was asked...High on crystal meth? This little blub was neither cute nor necessary.
