Those wrinkles seem to appear out of nowhere. Here are some ideas to keep them to a minimum.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Sleep
  • Plenty of water

Step1
ZZZZZZ.....The most important way to keep wrinkles from forming to begin with is to make sure to get plenty of sleep. While it can be a major challenge to get eight or more hours per night, catch up on your deficit by going to bed at six or seven one night per week. Ask your significant other to take care of calls, kids and pets while you snooze early. Return the favor if possible.
Step2
Drink Lots of Water - Decaffeinated soda does count, but coffee and alcoholic drinks are not the same as drinking pure water. A squirt of lemon or lime juice with lots of ice tastes great and helps revitalize aging skin.
Step3
Cucumbers - Adding moisture and comfort to tired eyes will make you feel refreshed, and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles if you are looking for some short term help for a night out. Place slices directly on the eye and lie down for twenty minutes before applying any cosmetics.
Step4
Avoid Alcohol, Cigarette Smoke and Pollutants - Diuretics that take moisture out of the body and the skin need to be limited. Excessive alcohol and caffeine are two examples. Smoking is one sure way to develop wrinkles at an early age. Exposure to smoke and pollutants can adversely effect the chemical balance of the skin and hair (not to mention what it does to your lungs and body).
Step5
Topical Solutions - Eye creams and gels do help reduce the appearance of wrinkles temporarily. Using an eye gel daily - even a small dab of petroleum jelly - will improve the appearance of tiny lines, but discontinuing usage will eliminate the benefits rapidly. A friend tried using lard to see if it helped but the greasy appearance had to be wiped away. Which brings me to the next step...
Step6
Don't Scrub or Wipe the Eye Vigorously. Pulling the skin around the eye can actually contribute to the formation of new wrinkles. As the body ages, the skin around this area loses elasticity and retract ability. Excessive rubbing can actually cause injury to the skin more readily than it would in a young person. Be gentle and touch the eye area sparingly.
Step7
Light Touch With Cosmetics - Certainly you should liberally moisturize your eye area each day after bathing. Older women sometimes make the mistake of applying too much make up around the eye to "hide" aging. Often, this has the opposite effect, especially under harsh lighting. As you age, less is more in the cosmetics department.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. Learn to love how you look as you become wiser, better and more attractive with age.
