How to Use Coconut Oil Around the House

Sure, it feels great on your skin, and you can cook with it but what else can you do with coconut oil?

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Remove scratches from a refrigerator (not stainless steel). Rub some on a cloth and rub over the scratch.

  2. Step 2

    Remove wood stain from walls. Apply liberally to a nail brush and scrub the stain. Wipe away with a paper towel now and then and continue until the stain is gone. It also removes scuffs and crayon from walls.

  3. Step 3

    Remove scuff marks from wood floors but be careful. It can make the floor very slippery for a while.

  4. Step 4

    Shine up your shoes. Hey, who really keeps shoe polish around? In a desperate situation, a TINY dab of this on a paper towel will bring a high sheen to any leather shoe.

  5. Step 5

    Substitute it for other cooking oils. Virgin coconut oil is a healthier option that other cooking oils.

  6. Step 6

    There's lots of beauty uses, too. it's a conditioning treatment and skin moisturizer. An added bonus is that you smell like the beach, even in winter.

on 11/15/2007 Thanks! My uncle-in-law (?) introduced me to this. He puts it in his hair after coming out of the ocean to keep it moist. Works wonderfully all summer long.
