  1. How to Create a Classroom Newspaper

    • 1

Have students create a name for the classroom newspaper. Allow them to be as creative as possible.

    • 2

Look at a real newspaper and decide which sections the class wants to include in their own.

    • 3

Assign students to a group (staff) for each section.

    • 4

Have each group vote on an editor.

    • 5

Have each group member suggest a story idea to the group editor.

    • 6

Have students type the stories chosen by the editor (three or four per section). Encourage them to work together on their stories.

    • 7

Have the editors assemble their section's stories and submit them to you, the editor-in-chief.

    • 8

After proofreading, assemble the sections and stories on a desktop publishing program.

    • 9

Add some clip art or photographs for variety, print, copy, and enjoy.
