How to Teach Verbs with Fortune Cookies

  1. Step 1

Show students an example of a fortune from a fortune cookie.

  2. Step 2

On scraps of paper, have students write their own fortunes.

  3. Step 3

Place these fortunes in a bag, and have students draw one at random.

  4. Step 4

Read the fortunes aloud (they're often pretty funny), and have students identify the verbs in each.

  5. Step 5

After a long hour of verb identification, give a fortune cookie or two to each student, then break out the carpet sweeper.
