Here's a step-by-step lesson in reviewing parts of speech before a big language arts test.

How to Review Parts of Speech

Step1
Using construction paper, create eight signs labeled with each part of speech: noun, pronoun, verb, interjection, conjunction, adjective, adverb, and preposition.
Step2
Tape these signs to the walls around the classroom.
Step3
Take an index card for each student in the class, and rite a word or phrase that can be categorized under only one of these parts of speech.
Step4
Shuffle the cards, and pass them out to the class.
Step5
Have students stand under the sign that describes the word or phrase on their card.

Tips & Warnings

  • Encourage students to help each other find the correct sign.
