If you are having problems getting to sites such as MySpace, Delicious, Digg or other social networking and bookmarking sites, chances are you are at work or at a public computer.

You can use free online resources to bypass the proxy of your companies server, as long as they themselves aren't blocked by your I.T. department.

This is a list of several of the free unblocking services that are out there on the internet.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit any of these sites and type in the URL (web domain) of the site that you wish to visit.

    http://www.vtunnel.com/
    http://kwiq.net/
    http://zelj.com/
    http://qloy.com/
    http://www.proxybypass.org
    http://www.autobypass.com

  2. Step 2

If any of the sites above are blocked by your I.T. department, try a google search for "proxy bypass" and there are numerous other resources.

  3. Step 3

If you have your own blog or server set up, you can download PHProxy from http://sourceforge.net/projects/poxy/ and run it on your own server to act as a go between from your work computer to the site you wish to visit.

Special Note: PHProxy is no longer being supported according to the SourceForge website, just take that into consideration for support options.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your I.T. department might have these items blocked as well.
  • Never assume that because you are using one of these services, your activity is not being monitored.
  • Best practice is to follow your companies policies relating to Internet and Computer usage.
