Men with uncircumcised penises need to clean their foreskin in order to maintain proper hygiene and avoid infections. There are simple techniques that only take minutes a day, that also prevent infection and inflammation.

From Quick Guide: Men's Health Issues
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gently pull the foreskin back so the head of the penis is accessible.

  2. Step 2

Use hot water to rinse the head of the penis and the loose foreskin.

  3. Step 3

Dip a cotton ball or cotton swab in soap and gently dab the head of the penis, making sure to try and rinse and clean under all folds.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse again with hot water.

  5. Step 5

This should be done in the morning, before bed and after sexual intercourse.

on 10/21/2008 Hot water would probably hurt! Also, a cotton ball is unnecessary. Might leave cotton residue. It's also not recommended to use soap in that area. Over-washing (3+ times a day not recommended either)

It's sufficient for a guy to just pull back the foresin and rinse in his daily shower.

on 9/12/2008 Hot water! No way. This is the most sensitive part of a man's body. Even a stream of water can be painful. I just pull the skin back, let lukewarm water gently flow over it and that's it. I do it once a day unless I'm having sex, then I do it again. If for some reason I get a build up I use cold cream to loosen it, then rinse with warm water. As for the odor, look if you have a foreskin, odor is part of the deal. It's distinctive, but unless you don't wash for a couple of days it's not too tangy.
