How to Make Easy Chili

Chili is traditionally a stew made with chili beans to add spice. Today, you can find a plethora of different kinds of chili recipes. The ingredients from one chili recipe to another can vary greatly in the types of meats, spices, beans and vegetables that are used. If you're just looking for a simple way to make a chili for a meal at home, this healthy, tasty recipe fits your needs.

Things You'll Need

• 1 lb. ground beef
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 2 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
• 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
• 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
• 29 oz.-can diced tomatoes with chili peppers
• 15-oz. can tomato sauce
• 16-oz. can red kidney beans
• Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Brown ground beef with chopped onions, chili powder, cumin and garlic powder in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain grease.

2. Mix in tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt and pepper.

3. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover.

4. Simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally.

5. Remove cover, stir in beans and simmer for an additional 3 minutes or until beans are warmed.
