With thanksgiving around the corner, i would like to share my recipe on turkey roasting to help make your special dinner one they will remember.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Stuff turkey just before roasting. Allow 3/4 to 1 cup stuffing per pound
weight.
Close opening by placing skewers across it and lacing shut with string.
butter entire turkey thoroughly.
Step2
Place breast side up on rack in roasting pan.
Cover with a loose piece of aluminum foil or a aluminum liner.
Step3
Place in a 325 degree oven.
Times given are for stuffed birds.
6 to 8 lbs-3 to 4 hrs.
8 to 12 lbs-4 to 4 1/2 hrs.
12 to 16 lbs.-4 1/2 to 6 1/2 hrs.
16 to 20 lbs.-5 1/2 to 7 hrs.
20 to 24 lbs.-7 to 8 1/2 hrs.

Tips & Warnings

  • When turkey is done the drum stick should easily move up and down and should easily twist out of joint
  • Let turkey stand at least 20 minutes before carving so the juices can rest.
  • Make sure you always cook poultry done.
  • Wash hands after handling poultry
