Whenever winter comes around so do the colds, and other sicknesses. How does one stay healthy in the midst of harsh conditions? This can be applied to every season for healthy living. I just happen to live in a place where weather can be extreme, and this is something that I have seen work with my family and me.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your favorite recipes
  • New recipes
  • Garlic
  • Peppers
  • Chili peppers (optional)
Step1
When cooking with your favorite recipes add garlic, and lots of it. If garlic doesn't fit in to your current selection of recipes it maybe time to branch out and find new ones that use garlic. Garlic is a strong Antioxidant. Antioxidants help protect the body against harmful "free radicals". Free radicals contribute to many different diseases and illnesses. It would seem as though people are more susceptible to being effect be germs and free radicals during the winter months. That’s why it’s important to have a healthy share of antioxidants in your diet.
Step2
Cook with bell peppers (they go great with garlic) or just eat them as a snack. Bell peppers are a good source of vitamin C, B6, beta carotene, folic acid, and thiamine. They are also a wonderful source of antioxidants.
Step3
If you can handle it...Cook with or eat chili peppers. One chili pepper has more vitamin C than a whole orange. They are also rich in potassium, vitamin A and fiber.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take the time to do a little research on the health benefits of garlic, bell peppers, and chilies. You will be amazed at the amount of information and potential benefits of making them apart of your diet.
