Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Fresh Yams
- Nutmeg
- Sugar
- Small can of carnation milk
- Margarine (preferrably I can't beleive its butter- stick)
- Vanilla Extract
- Pie Crust
Sweet Potato Pie
Step1
Peel the yams before boiling them (use a peeler instead of a knife).
Once yams are boiled (boil until they are mashable-very soft) drain, then put them into a bowl.
Step2
Depending on how many yams you used (which depends on how many pies you're going to make) add the margarine (stick butter) and your vanilla extract. You don't want to use to much vanilla extract because you don't want the flavoring to over power the taste of the yams.
Step3
Add milk (depending on how much sweet potato mix you have) sugar to sweeten it up and nutmeg. Everything that's added should be tasted but not overpoweringly so.
Step4
Make sure you mix well so that there are no lumps in the mixture. Once everything is mixed, put into pie crusts and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
