Step1
Before you begin your mini site you must do a little research on what keywords are getting traffic. Keywords are simply the words people type into the search box of Google, Yahoo or any other search engine to search the net for websites that will deliver the information they are seeking.
Step2
The way professional webmasters choose the subject for a site is by doing research on the supply and demand of keywords. If the demand is high and the supply is low, this keyword is a good prospect for making money. For example, with the keyword "jewelry" we can easily assume there will be so many websites that the competition, or supply, is way to high to create a mini site that would see the light of day. But perhaps choosing a related keyword like "bead jewelry" might have a demand of around a couple of thousand people typing in this word every month, but with a supply of only about two hundred websites to meet that demand. Which, being the case, might be a good prospect for a profitable mini site.
Step3
There are a few good sites that will run the supply and demand numbers for you for a small fee. Wordtracker is a very good one, but there are other great sites that offer incredible software for running keyword tasks, although some can be quite expensive. Check into some of them and see which one you like the best. Then pay the fee or purchase the software as you will need these supply and demand numbers to determine which niche to choose for your mini site.
Step4
Let's say you've run the keyword numbers and chosen the niche for your mini site. Now let's find some free web hosting. Squidoo is very favored by Google and offers easy building blocks. You don't need to be a computer geek, just follow the instructions. I have five little Squidoo sites that are turning some good profits.
But there are many good free web hosting sites out there, so shop around. It's a lot of fun.
Step5
Now it's time to choose the product you will promote on your mini site.
Ebooks are super products to sell because the commissions are so high. I receive $27.00 a sale on one particular ebook in which I have done very well with. But some ebooks can pay even higher commissions. Clickbank.com is where everyone goes for ebook products and is a very reliable company. But any product that is suited for your niche can gain you some extra cash. When you find a website that has the product you want and the commission is a fair pay out, then you will want to become an "affiliate" of that website.
Step6
To become an affiliate is free and very easy, you just sign up. Companies love having as many websites as possible to promote their product. But many companies will want to check out your website before approval. In that case you will want to have your site looking pretty and set up enough to represent your chosen niche and ready for the product.
Step7
Once approved you will be directed to a page on their site that has the code for the product that you will do a simple copy and paste on your mini site. Once pasted you will see your product come to life on your site. Within that code will be your personal ID that will be tracked to you every time it sells, which is how you receive your commission.
Step8
Next step? Build another and another mini site. The more the merrier, and the more profitable!

It is nice to see someone take a real approach to making a little extra cash on the Internet....and Yes that was said by none other then a computer geek.
