Things You'll Need:
- It depends on your tool of choice: your fingers, hair pin, latch hook, nappylocks tool etc. to help thread the locks through at the base.
-
Step 1
Section off your locks to ensure you don't marry them by accident. Take the lock you are tightening up in your hand and separate the hair down at the base of your lock.
-
Step 2
Take the tip of your lock and thread it through the separated space horizontally. I usually start out going from right to left but the choice is yours.
-
Step 3
Separate the base of the lock again in a different area and thread the lock through the space vertically going from south to north.
-
Step 4
Separate the base again and thread the lock through again horizontally in the opposite. So if you went right to left this time you will thread left to right.
-
Step 5
Distorted LockSeparate the base once more. This time thread the lock through vertically going from north to south. You will always want to finish your lock this way. Repeat steps until the lock is snug but not tight. Tip: Don't try to force the lock if it is too close to base, this causes breakage and makes the lock to look distorted.

on 4/17/2008 My loctician will not show me how to maintain my locks; she wants me to "depend" on her like a junkie to come to her for upkeep, but I have to wait at least 2 hours in the salon (with an appointment) before she gets to me. Will the tightening without twisting procedure work on sisterlocks also?
Thanks
