How to Get Rid of a Scorpion Infestation

If you live in the desert, you may have to deal with scorpions. Finding one is frightening enough. What do you do when you begin finding multiple scorpions in your home? Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Landscape maintenance can go a long way. Have palm trees shaved, since they are scorpion favorites. Also, don't let brush, leaves or bushes rest against your house. Clear your yard of large rocks.

    • 2

Seal any noticeable gaps in doorways and window fittings.

    • 3

Hire a monthly exterminator. Make sure they are spraying the outside of your home for scorpions and the bugs scorpions love to hunt.

    • 4

Scorpions can go without food and water for months, so don't expect to kill them all right away. With time and vigilance your infestation will start to go away.

Tips & Warnings

  • When hiring an exterminator, call around and ask what percentage strength they use in their scorpion pesticide. Hire the one who uses a high percentage compared to the other companies.

  • If you have a small child, put the legs of his or her crib in glass mason jars so scorpions cannot climb the legs of the crib.

  • Also, make sure no part of the crib is touching the wall so scorpions have no way to climb in.
