When attending a wedding there are a few steps that can be taken to ensure that wedding gift etiquette rules are not broken.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wedding Registry
  • Department Store
  • Wedding Gift Website
  • Greeting Card
  1. Step 1

If you don't already know, learn a little bit about the bride and groom. Find out where they are registered, or find out what their hobbies are.

  2. Step 2

Do not show up to the wedding without a wedding gift! This is the worst thing that you could possibly do, and it is just rude.

Imagine how you would feel if someone attended your wedding, ate the food, drank from the open bar and did not give you a gift.

  3. Step 3

Never regift something from your closet at home. If you don't want it what makes you think the bride and groom will?

Give your unwanted gifts to charity instead.

  4. Step 4

Give the newlywed couple something they want. Buy from the registry or buy them a gift that you absolutely know they will like.

Don't buy it if you aren't sure. However, if you know the couple is really into wine buying them a case of wine might be a good idea.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use common sense when choosing a wedding gift.
  • If you are stuck for ideas, giving cash is always acceptable.
  • Give what you can, but do not insult the bride and groom with an extremely cheap gift.
  • Just because you like something doesn't mean the couple will like it as a gift.
