How to Make Shrimp Curry

Though there are many ways to make a curry, this recipe allows for minor adjustments in order to suit different palates. All the variations are a delicious exotic addition to any dinner party or family meal.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Uncooked Shrimp
  • Garam Masala
  • Cumin
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Tamarind
  • Lemon
  • Dijon Mustard
  • Turmeric
  • Red Chili
  • Cilantro
  • Crushed Coriander
  1. Step 1

    Put 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons lemon juice in a bowl.

  2. Step 2

    Add 1-2 teaspoons garam masala, ground cumin, tamarind paste, Dijon mustard, pressed garlic, grated ginger and crushed coriander seed.

  3. Step 3

    Add a few pinches of red chili powder, turmeric and salt.

  4. Step 4

    Stir well. Add generous amount of chopped cilantro.

  5. Step 5

    If using frozen shrimp, thaw under cool water. Add the uncooked shrimp to the marinade mixture and stir well. Set aside for at least a half-hour but not longer than two hours.

  6. Step 6

    Heat a frying pan to medium-high. Add the shrimp and marinade and cook for two minutes.

  7. Step 7

    Turn the shrimp over, cover and let cook for 1-2 more minutes. Remove from heat and serve with Basmati rice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Adjust the levels of Garam Masala and red chili powder to adjust the spice level of this dish.
  • Make sure shrimp is cooked thoroughly before serving. The meat should turn white and not be translucent in any area.
