Very important to do! Contact each credit bureau to get this accomplished. Check your report every year and you can with some patience get this done.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Addresses to each of the credit bureau's.
  • Your divorce papers proving what you are saying is true.
  1. Step 1

    Each year your are legally allowed to pull your credit report on line once a year. http://www.Annualcreditreport.com

  2. Step 2

    Three Bureaus will show up and you can pull your report individually from each one. REVIEW IT CAREFULLY!

  3. Step 3

    You are able to dispute items with a reason online but this does not guarantee your problems are solved. Dispute what is not yours anyway with three bureau's.

  4. Step 4

    Within 30 days you will receive a report as to what has been deleted, researched etc.

  5. Step 5

    If any bureau can not prove you have a debt that is outstanding they must take it off your report.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must write in to fix any address imperfections.
  • Copies of divorce papers or any documentation to prove you are divorced.
  • This is a long and frustrating route but it does help.
  • There may be limitations according to your state as to when you can pull the report.
  • If anyone pulls a three way report, even though you may have resolved all of your issues. This can come up again depending on the service they use.
  • KEEP ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTATION FOREVER!
