Some children believe that strawberry candies and orange flavored ice cream are fruits. These however are not fruits. Children need a variety of fruits in their diet, but this can sometimes be challenging for parents to achieve. Here are a few ways to get children to eat more fruits

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ice cube trays
  • various 100% fruit juices
  • various fruits
  • small skewers
  1. Step 1

Top off a bowl of oatmeal or cereal with a fruit smiley face. Use sliced bananas for eyes, raisins for a nose, and an orange slice for a mouth

  2. Step 2

Poor 100% fruit juice into ice cube trays to make homemade popsicles or juice cubes

  3. Step 3

Make fruit kabobs: Spear strawberries, melon slices, pineapple chunks, grapes, or your child’s favorite fruit onto small skewers. Serve with low-fat yogurt as a dip

  4. Step 4

Top low-fat ice cream or frozen yogurt with fresh or frozen fruit

  5. Step 5

Take your children to the grocery store and let them pick out one new fruit to try every week

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep fruits easily accessible and visible so your child will be more likely to reach for them when she wants a snack!
