Things You'll Need:
- pen and paper to make grocery list
-
Step 1
Buy in-season fruits and vegetables because they are often cheaper. Try to find a farmer’s market where the fruits and vegetables are in better condition from less travel. They also tend to be cheaper
-
Step 2
If fresh fruit and vegetables are too expensive, buy frozen or canned. Fresh and frozen vegetables have the same vitamin content but frozen have a longer shelf life
-
Step 3
Bake your own breads and muffins to freeze. This is cheaper and healthier than pre-packaged snacks
-
Step 4
When going grocery shopping always make a list and shop on a full stomach to avoid impulse shopping
-
Step 5
Choose frozen 100% juice concentrates to make juice at home. These are just as healthy as bottled juice, just cheaper!
-
Step 6
Don’t fall into the vending machine trap. Bring healthy snacks from home to save money and calories

on 11/6/2007 Thanks...always looking to eat more healthy and at a good cost. The advantage of Organic is the lack of pesticides and growth hormones in the food. This is worth it to me...but I still snack on less that desireable food...thanks for the article!
