How to Make Time for Yourself

Do you have a full time job, responsibilities, obligations, and other activities that keep you on your toes all the time? As important as it may be to keep busy and productive, it's just as crucial that you give yourself time to relax. If you're finding it difficult to find down time, check out these ideas for pampering the most important person in your life: yourself.

Step1
Schedule time for yourself. Just like you'd schedule a date with a friend, carve out an hour or more every other day that's dedicated to spending time doing something relaxing that you love.
Step2
Try out a relaxing physical activity, like yoga or Tai Chi. These are particularly useful if you find yourself getting restless or trying to be productive during what should be relaxation time. If neither is available or appealing to you, consider taking walks instead, which are a great way to clear your mind.
Step3
Take about an hour before bed to make a to-do list for the next day (this should only take ten minutes at the most), which will help to clear your mind so that you don't have to think about it while you're trying to fall asleep. After the list, listen to some music, read a book, stretch your muscles, have a bath, or give and receive a massage.
Step4
Once a month, do something luxurious for yourself. Schedule a massage, a haircut at a nice salon, a manicure, pedicure, or dinner at a nice restaurant. Reward yourself for all your hard work. Remember, without a reward, it's easy to get burnt out!
