When I moved my computer over to Ubuntu, I realized I did not know how to update my iPod, but I soon figured out a quick and easy way to update my iPod. Follow these steps to learn how to put music onto your iPod using Ubuntu.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An iPod
  • Computer
  • An iPod USB cord
  1. Step 1

Connect the iPod to the computer. It could take a few seconds for the computer to register the iPod is attached.

  2. Step 2

The first thing you will notice is that Ubuntu does not recognize your iPod as a mp3 player, but as a storage device.

  3. Step 3

Ubuntu should automatically load "Music Player."

  4. Step 4

To import music into your library, click on the "Music" drop-down and click "Import File."

  5. Step 5

After you have your music in the library, click and drag the music you want to add to your iPod to the iPod icon. It has your iPod name on it under the heading "Devices." Each time you drag the music to your iPod icon, your iPod will update.

  6. Step 6

When you are done, close out of "Music Player." Right click on the iPod icon on your Desktop. Click on "Eject" and wait for Ubuntu to tell you that your iPod has been disconnected. Disconnect your iPod from the computer.
