When watering your plant take in to considerations its size before determining how much and how often you water it. From Spring to Fall water your plant 1-3 per day while in the Winter keeping your soil almost dry. Do not water log your plant.

Bougainvillea love the sun, but be careful not to leave it in the intense heat of late afternoon summer sunlight. In the winter when sunlight is minimum try keeping it in a greenhouse type setting.

Your Bougainvillea can be pruned nearly year round. When trimming back branches trim back a bit farther then the actually length you would like. If you plan to wire any branches take care in wiring older ones as the tend to get brittle with age. It is recommended to wore branches while they are young.

Repot your Bougainvillea about every 3 to 4 years and do so in the spring months early summer at the latest. The size and age of your plant should help you to determine how often it needs to be repotted.

On a routine basis you should inspect the plant for any types of insects that could harm it. If the plant is primarily kept indoors be sure not to let dust or other particles settle on the plant as it could be harmful and result in your plant not thriving like it should.
