Is your house a complete mess? Don’t know where to start cleaning? Are you overwhelmed just thinking about cleaning your house? Have you tried cleaning up your house but felt like you got nowhere fast? If the answer to any of these is yes, then you’ve come to the right place. We will now clean up that messy house.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Pick a room in your house to start. It might be best to pick a room that you use a lot or the kitchen because this is often the center of activity in a house.
Step2
Pick up all the stuff in that room that doesn’t belong. Place each item in the room it belongs, but for now don’t worry about putting that item away unless it can be done quickly. You could even put a box outside the rooms to hold the stuff until later.
Step3
Put away the stuff that belongs in the first room.
Step4
Clean the surfaces that should now be free of excess clutter. Dust, wipe, wash or do whatever is necessary to make the rest of the room clean.
Step5
Move on to the next room and repeat the same process. However, if you are putting away something in the “clean room,” make sure you actually put it away.
Step6
Take a break every once in a while. If you have to stop, you at least have one or more rooms that are clean. It may be best to take a break in the clean rooms because this will help you not feel overwhelmed and may motivate you to continue cleaning.
Step7
After each room is clean, go back and vacuum, mop or otherwise clean the floor of each room.

Tips & Warnings

  • Listening to music may help the time go by faster.
  • Invite friends over for a work party.
  • If you have a lot of clutter it may help to make piles of items that you want to get rid of as you work. See related articles on cleaning a cluttered house.
  • In the kitchen, start with the dishes.
  • Before washing the dishes, make sure you have all of the dirty dishes in the kitchen.
  • Take a trash bag with you from room to room.
  • Be very careful if you come across any mold. Some forms of mold can be very dangerous. Don’t just clean it up. Find out more about this mold first by calling an expert or finding out information online. Wear a mask at the very least. Don’t take chances.
