Shopping year-round for gifts is a great way to save money and time, and a gift closet is the perfect place to organize all those gifts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A closet
  • Boxes or containers to organize the space
  • Gifts
  1. Step 1

Clear space for your gift closet. This can be a small portion of a closet, a whole closet or even a storage container stashed under a bed, if you're short on closet space.

  2. Step 2

Then, let the shopping begin! Keep an eye out year-round for deals on items that you think the people on your gift list will like. Clearance racks, sales, closeouts and even yard sales can net amazing finds at bargain prices. Snatch those deals up when you find them.

  3. Step 3

Whenever you buy a gift for someone, make sure it goes straight into the gift closet. This will ensure that you know right where it is when you need it.

  4. Step 4

Also keep an eye out for gifts that can be used for unexpected events--housewarming parties, last-minute birthday invites, dinner parties and other occasions that require a gift. Candles, stationery and handmade soaps are all great to keep on hand.

  5. Step 5

As you build up the contents of your gift closet, think about using storage containers or boxes to organize your gifts by person or gift type. An inventory list can also help you keep up with what you have on hand.

Tips & Warnings
  • Gift wrap supplies are another great thing to keep in your gift closet.
