Wonder how movies today seem to place actors in environments that are out of this world. Well more often then not they are probably using a green screen. Movies such as '300' or 'Sin City' were shot almost entirely on green screen.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Subject
  • Camera
  • Green screen
  • Truss
  • Lights
  1. Step 1

Decide where the subject, camera and green screen are going to be placed.

  2. Step 2

Erect the green screen by hanging it from a truss.

  3. Step 3

Light the subject using a three point light setup.

  4. Step 4

Light the green screen by placing the lights either directly below it, directly above it or a combination of both.

  5. Step 5

    Take the shot.

Tips & Warnings
  • The green screen will need to be much larger than the subject requiring tall ceilings and open space.
  • For the green screen to work the entire screen will need to be lit evenly. Fluorescent lights are a good source of light for a green screen.
  • Do not have the subject wear anything that is green or they will blend into the green screen.
