There's nothing worse than watching your fussy baby's pacifier hit the dirty floor of a store or restaurant. Too bad it wasn't somehow clipped to her outfit. You know you can't put it back in her mouth, so you frantically search the diaper bag, the car, your purse and every one of your pockets for another one but come up empty handed. And your baby is still crying! Why not avoid the problem altogether with a simple pacifier clip? It's easy to make, the pacifier stays clean and baby stays happy. And when baby's happy, everybody's happy!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 inches of ¾ inch wide ribbon
  • Iron
  • Thread
  • Suspender clip
  • ½ inch of ½ inch wide hook sew-on tape
  • ½ inch of ½ inch wide loop sew-on tape
  • Sewing machine
  1. Step 1

Fold each end of the ribbon 1 inch down with the wrong sides together and press each fold with the hot iron.

  2. Step 2

Thread the ribbon through the suspender clip loop, placing the suspender clip loop in the crease of a fold at one end of the ribbon.

  3. Step 3

Fold the cut end of the 1-inch length nearest the suspender clip loop under by ¼ inch with the wrong sides together then press with the hot iron. This hides the cut end of the ribbon from view and prevents fraying.

  4. Step 4

Use your sewing machine to sew the ribbon together to create a loop that holds the suspender clip in place. You will need to sew over the ¼-inch fold and stitch back and forth several times for strength. The suspender clip is now attached to the ribbon.

  5. Step 5

Fold the other cut end of the ribbon under by ¼ inch with the wrong sides together and press with the hot iron.

  6. Step 6

Sew the hook sew-on tape to the wrong side of the end of the ribbon, making sure to stitch over the ¼-inch fold to hide the cut end from view and prevent fraying.

  7. Step 7

Sew the loop sew-on tape to the wrong side of the long piece of ribbon, opposite the hook sew-on tape you just attached.

  8. Step 8

Use the suspender clip to attach the ribbon to baby's shirt, thread the pacifier loop through the other end of the ribbon and secure with the hook and loop, then place the pacifier into baby's mouth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select a thread color that complements the color of your ribbon.
  • Never allow your baby to sleep with the pacifier clip attached to his clothing.
  • Always supervise your baby when he is wearing the pacifier clip.
