Step 1
Use a hamper with multiple compartments to sort your laundry as you go. One with three compartments--one for lights, darks and whites--will help you to eliminate all laundry room sorting.
-
Step 2
Matching up socks is a labor-intense activity. Purchase sock holders (little plastic clips designed to keep socks paired in the wash), and make a habit of sliding your socks directly into one of the clips when you take them off. No more matching required!
-
Step 3
Choose the shortest washer and dryer cycle that will get the job done. If you're washing a small load, choose the small load setting on the washer and a shorter drying time.
-
Step 4
Toss two tennis balls into the dryer with your clothes to speed up the drying time.
-
Step 5
Fold your laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer. This will prevent wrinkling, and eliminate (or at least minimize) your need to iron.

on 10/21/2008 Thanks for the tips! Getting the laundry done has always been a bit challenge of mine! (I wrote about it here: http://buzz.prevention.com/community/trimom73/laundry-my-nemesis). I love your idea of putting socks in a laundry bag. I used to do what when my kids were babies. I should never have stopped!
