Clean Your LCD Screens
Clean Your LCD Screens

I never knew what to clean my LCD screens with. Always afraid of ruining a nice and expensive screen. I figured a cleaner like Windex is probably to strong with chemicals to be OK for a screen. Then I saw an ad from an electronics store selling a LCD cleaning solution. It cost about $10 which doesn't seem to bad, but then I looked at the ingredients and put it right back on the shelf. This is a safe way you can clean your LCD screens for your TV and computer without buying an overpriced solution.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clean Spray Bottle
  • Water
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Soft Towel (microfiber towel is best)
  1. Step 1

Grab your spray bottle and rinse it out well with hot water and then fill it up half-way with cold water.

  2. Step 2

Now take your rubbing alcohol and fill up the other half of your spray bottle with your rubbing alcohol.

  3. Step 3

Spray solution on the screen or on a soft towel. A microfiber towel is best. Screen should be a streak-free clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • You don't have to fill the spray bottle full of the solution. The key is to have a 50/50 mix.
  • Be careful not to scratch your screen by using an appropriate towel.

on 4/24/2009 The best way to clean an LCD screen is using a single use wet/dry wipe designed specifically for the task. The wet wipe is moistened just enough to clean the screen, but not enough to have drips and runs that can damage your device. The cleaning solution is alcohol and ammonia free. The yearly cost if cleaning once each week is about $52.00. Cleaning every other week brings the cost down to $26.00 per year. One of the best features of a single use system is that it eliminated the potential for cross contamination. That is where the cleaning cloth picked up a contaminant from another screen or during storage and you transfer it to your nice, expensive LCD screen while you think you are cleaning it.
