Nothing says "homemade" like these yummy ginger snaps with the crinkled tops that are characteristic of ginger snaps

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 eggs- beaten
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2tsp. vinegar
  • 33/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Cream the sugar and butter together.
Stir in: 2 eggs- well beaten,
    1/2 cup molasses,
    2tsp. vinegar.

  3. Step 3

    Sift the flour.
Then add the flour (3 3/4 cup),
    baking soda ( 1 1/2 tsp.),
    ginger (3 tsps.),
    cinnamon(1/2 tsp.)

  4. Step 4

Mix these ingredients until well blended. Make balls of dough by rolling them in the palm of your hand. Balls should be about 3/4 inch in diameter.

    Grease cookie sheet.

  5. Step 5

Bake on the greased cookie sheet for approximately 12 minutes. It is fun to watch the cookie develop its crinkles as it bakes down.

Tips & Warnings
  • This makes approximately 8 dozen cookies.
  • Just like any cookie, you should monitor them in the last two minutes of baking. Ovens vary AND-- you may prefer these cookies soft.
  • Baking them a little longer makes them the crunchy variety.
