How to Add Years to the Life of Your Refrigerator

No one wants to replace a costly refrigerator before its time. It just isn't one of those fun things we want to spend money on. You can add years to the life of your fridge by following these simple guidelines.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Keep the refrigerator comfortably full. You can accomplish this by not putting things in there that really don't need to be cooled. Unopened condiments and whole cases of drinks can be stored in the pantry until they're needed. Your fridge works overtime when it's overstuffed, instead, make sure that there's room for cool air to circulate.
Step2
Clean refrigerator condensor coils yearly. Vacuum the dust off them so that they won't overheat and be overworked. Likewise keep the back of the fridge free from animal hair and dust.
Step3
Keep excess weight off of the shelves on the door. Too many heavy objects will cause the door to sag and the doors won't fit as tightly as they should which will eventually cause problems.
Step4
Wash all fridge parts in the sink with warm, not hot water. Never put them in the dishwasher where too much heat can warp them. Give your refrigerator a good cleaning at least every month to keep shelves and drawers in top condition.
