Cheese Dog Surprise is a delicious treat for kids of any age to enjoy. Definitely not an all-the-time food, but a great way to delight a group around the victory table or picnic basket!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Defrost as many hot dogs as you would like to turn into cheese-filled hot dogs.

  2. Step 2

Cut the hot dogs in half and carve a shallow canal in the center of each half, the long way. Stop the canals before they reach the ends.

  3. Step 3

Fill the canals most of the way with your grated cheese and reassemble the hot dogs so that they appear uncut.

  4. Step 4

Put the cheese filled hot dogs on paper towels or a plate in the microwave and cook on medium-high until the cheese is melted and the hot dogs are sufficiently heated, about twenty to thirty seconds per hot dog.

  5. Step 5

wipe off any cheese that may have escaped from the seams of the cheese dogs and make sure the seams are as invisible as possible. Be careful, the cheese may be very hot.

  6. Step 6

Put the cheese dogs in the hot dog buns so the seams are disguised, allow the cheese to cool until it holds the hot dogs together and serve!

Tips & Warnings
  • Soft cheeses work best because they have a lower melting temperature and will not cause you to over-cook the hot dogs.
  • Highly addictive, highly caloric.
