Instructions

    • 1

Choose a photo of yourself that you have saved into your computer. The photos that work the best for this technique have really plain backgrounds.

    • 2

Open up Adobe Photoshop, and bring your photo in by clicking on file/open and navigating to the correct photo.

    • 3

Go to image/image size, and make sure "scale sizes" and "constrain proportions" are unchecked.

    • 4

Locate the part of the dialogue box marked "document size." Click on the arrows and choose "percent" as your unit.

    • 5

Type the number 97 into the box marked "width." You have now made your image less wide, but just as tall. Someone viewing the photo will usually not notice the flattering distortion.

    • 6

Save your photo by going to file/save as and naming the file. Now you can print the enhanced photo or email it to a friend.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your background is extremely plain, experiment with dropping the percent down to about 95% wide. Sometimes you can get away with this, depending on the specific photo.

  • Be careful about applying this technique to a photo with text in the background. Distorted text would be a dead giveaway.
