When you are practicing proper skin care you want to be deep cleaning your face at least once a week. There are many great masks and exfoliators out there to help you accomplish this task. Here is the proper way to use these two key products to ensure that your skin does not freak out.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • water
  • sink
  • mask
  • exfoliator
  • two days
  • ten minutes each day

Step1
Get the right products. When you are shopping for your mask and exfoliator duo you want to make sure that they are tailored to your skin type. If you have dry skin find masks with natural moisturizers and exfoliators with smaller more gentle granules. If you have oily skin then get a mask with clay to pull out the excess oil and an exfoliator with larger granules to get off the dead skin on the surface of your face.
Step2
Exfoliate first. When you are practicing the duo of mask and exfoliator you want to make sure that you are exfoliating first. Exfoliating your skin is a way of removing dead skin from your face and cleansing your pores. Exfoliating will make it easier for a mask to get deep down into your skin to deep clean.
Step3
Take a day in between. Exfoliate and mask one day apart. If you try to do too much to your skin too fast then it could freak out, break out and become red and irritated. You will see at first when you begin to take care of your skin it is more susceptible to break outs and blemishes. This is not because you are using the wrong products but because the new fresh skin does not have the same resistance to free radical damage in the environment that all the old dead skin had. In about a month you will see that you can have clean, glowing skin that can stand up to the elements with the right care.
Step4
Mask the next day. Wash your face and then apply the mask. Yes, the mask will cleanse the skin but you do not need to make it work any harder then it has to. If you wash first you are getting rid of any dull residue from the day and the mask will be able to reach deeper into the skin. Once you apply the mask let it sit for ten or fifteen minutes. This is a good time frame for a cleansing mask to dry and pull out impurities or a moisture mask to penetrate deep down to heal the skin cells.
Step5
Finish. Wash the mask off and apply a good moisturizer. If you are following these steps on a weekly basis you will have beautiful glowing skin in no time. Just make sure that you are washing your face twice a day and following with a moisturizer to help protect and strengthen your skin during the week.

Tips & Warnings

  • Exfoliate and mask a day apart.
  • Work the exfoliator in small circles to stimulate the blood.
  • Use appropriate products for your skin type.
  • Do not mask or exfoliate too often or you can cause damage to the skin.
  • Exfoliating and masking once a week is plenty.
