This isn't the Macarena, the Electric Slide or the Funky Chicken—it's the Cupid Shuffle, a line dance created by Louisiana R&B singer Cupid. The dance features four moves that mirror the lyrics of his song by the same name. Read on to learn how to do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The chorus of the song begins with: "To the right, to the right, to the right, to the right,"

To the beat of the song, take four steps to the right, keeping in time with any other Cupid Shufflers on the dance floor.

  2. Step 2

"To the left, to the left, to the left, to the left,"

To the beat of the song, take four steps to the left.

  3. Step 3

"Now kick, now kick, now kick, now kick,"

Rock on your left heel as you kick the right leg. Return right leg to the ground. Rock on right heel as you kick the left leg. Return left leg to the ground. Repeat.

  4. Step 4

"Now walk it by yourself, now walk it by yourself."

Move as though you're doing a modified Twist, or just step right-left-right-left-right-left-right-left as you shift to the left.

  5. Step 5

Repeat, beginning with step one, until the conclusion of the song.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can do this dance simply, or add some embellishments: move your arms, bob your head, pump your shoulders or squat while you step. You can also knock your knees together and out again while doing the "walk it by yourself" step.
  • Do not perform this dance if you have health issues that would be aggravated by light exercise.
  • Try not to step on or run into your neighbor on the dance floor.
