How to Do a Yoga Horse Position

The horse position in yoga is meant to help you relax.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Stand with your feet apart, firmly placed on the ground shoulder width apart. Make sure your toes are slightly turned inward and your knees are bent slightly.

  2. Step 2

    Inhale deeply through your nose, raising your arms slowly from your waist and up your torso, turning your palms upward.

  3. Step 3

    Picture yourself drawing your breath from your spine all the way to the top of your head.

  4. Step 4

    Turn your hands over and slowly lower them, exhaling.

  5. Step 5

    Picture yourself drawing your breath all the way down your spine and to the center of your body.

  6. Step 6

    Repeat the entire process two more times.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take your time when doing yoga poses, and only do as much as your body will allow. Do not strain yourself.
