Need a great idea for a fun and easy Christmas party? Find out how to throw a party called by many different names, Dirty Santa, Yankee Swap, or White Elephant.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Guests
  • Slips of paper
  • A pen
  • A hat
  • Refreshments
  1. Step 1

Make your guest list and decide on a date for your party.

  2. Step 2

Send out invitations letting your guests know that you'll be playing Dirty Santa. Ask them to R.S.V.P. and to bring one guest per person. It's always fun when a couple of people bring gag gifts. Also, tell them not to label the gift with who it is to or from.

  3. Step 3

On the day of the party, prepare a table or a place to put all the gifts in one spot. Count how many people, including yourself and your family, will be at the party. Write down one number for each person on a slip of paper and put them in a hat or a bowl.

  4. Step 4

    Prepare the refreshments.

  5. Step 5

When your guests arrive have them put their gifts along with yours in the designated spot.

  6. Step 6

After all your guests have arrived, have each one draw a number out of the hat or bowl. This will decide who gets to go first, second, third and so on.

  7. Step 7

The person who drew the number 1 will go first. Have them select a gift from the pile and unwrap it.

  8. Step 8

Now the person who drew the number 2 will either pick a gift from the pile and unwrap it or they can choose to steal the gift that number 1 has.

  9. Step 9

The person who drew the number 3 goes next. They can decide to steal the gift that number 1 or number 2 has or pick a gift from the pile and unwrap it. This goes on until all the guests have a gift.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set a limit of each gift being stolen 3 times.
  • Allow guests to trade after all the gifts are unwrapped.
  • Invite as many people as you can. The more the merrier!
