Adding definitions to mixed media art, in altered books, and in art journals is a trend rising in popularity. There’s a lot of opportunity for creativity with these stickers, so let’s get busy! We’re merging technology and art supplies together!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sheets of shipping labels
  • Computer
  • Word Processor
  • Printer

    Using your dictionary or a dictionary found online, look up words that are inspiring or that fit the theme of a specific art project. Some examples include create, creative, art, artistic, inspire, inspiration and so on.

    Using a word processor, find a template that fits the sheet of shipping labels chosen. Most of these templates come preset, but it might be necessary to create your own or find one online.

    Copy the definitions into the template. Once everything it typed out, change the font face, font color and font size of the words to create an interesting presentation. If you’re not happy with the fonts in your word processor, there are many free downloads available online.

    Print out the labels and embellish each further with stickers, glitter gel pens, glitter glue, clip art and other elements.

Tips & Warnings
  • After the label has been added to the project, pound in brads or eyelets.
  • Rubber stamp images in blank spaces left on the label.
  • Distress the edges by deckling and adding ink or chalk.
  • Be sure the ink is dried completely before manipulating the labels to prevent smearing.
  • Print a practice sheet on a plain piece of paper to be sure everything lines up properly before printing on the sheet of labels.
