Tired of the same old party? Typical “finger foods” a little overdone? No worries, take a stride from the hip cats of the 1970’s and throw a fondue party. Your guests will love the creativity and uniqueness of the food, and it will aid in making your party a casual carefree night that will be unforgettable.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fondue pot
  • Burner (unless your fondue pot has one attached)
  • Fondue “forks”
  • Ingredients for “sauce”:white, milk, or dark chocolate
  • Ingredients for “dippers”:fresh strawberries, bananas, pineapple, apples, cherries, grapes, cookies, cheesecake, angel food cake, shortcake, or sweet breads
  • Complimenting beverages: Wine, Coffee, Cappuccino, Port, Dessert Wine, Brandy, Champagne

Step1
Gather your ingredients for your fondue “sauce” and fondue “dippers.” Please see the above ingredients under the section “things you’ll need.”
Step2
Cut your fondue “dippers” into small pieces so they will easily fit onto the fondue forks- be sure to NOT cut the pieces too small or too large, if you do this the dipper could actually fall off your fondue fork into the sauce.
Step3
To make a basic Chocolate fondue sauce combine 12 ounces of plain chocolate (white, milk, or dark), breaking the chocolate into pieces in the fondue pot. Note: If you want to purchase chocolate chips instead of breaking the chocolate into pieces this is an option.
Step4
Add 10 ounces of double cream per 12 ounces of chocolate.
Step5
Continually stir the fondue sauce until it is completely melted. Note: If you find your fondue is too thick, add more cream. If you find your fondue is too thin, add more chocolate.
Step6
To spice up your fondue add two tablespoons of a flavored liqueur- orange, raspberry, vanilla, etc. Note: This is an optional step.
Step7
Keep the fondue pot at a sustaining heat to ensure the fondue does not thicken up too much, form a skin, or become too runny
Step8
Provide your guests with individual color coated fondue forks and let the dipping fun begin.
