This is a recipe I grew up with, and its humble as well as simple ingredients will give you a taste of home.ummmm enjoy !

From Quick Guide: Family Dinners
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Flour
  • Cocoa
  1. Step 1

Make your home made biscuits.....if you want you may cheat by using the frozen kind that you bake yourself.
Bake the biscuits and let them cool.

  2. Step 2

Make your Chocolate Gravy using this recipe:

    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 1/2 cups milk
    2 tablespoons flour
    3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

Place dry ingredients in a iron or heavy skillet, Stir in the milk.
Cook over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove from the heat when mixture starts to thicken really good.
Add the butter. Stir in until completely melted.

  3. Step 3

Pour over individual biscuit as you would if you were making regular biscuits and gravy........ cut biscuit in half pour over chocolate ..... top with old fashioned meringue......and brown the meringue for a minute under your broiler or in your toaster oven.

Tips & Warnings
  • I sometimes make a double or triple batch of the Chocolate add crumble in biscuits for a Chocolate Cobbler.
  • Even if you are not from the Mountains ........... You will still love this taste of the Mountain Life.

on 12/7/2007 I will have to try this recipe, I'm the oldest of seven and we had biscuits a lot and I loved them every time. My Mom always made the best ones ever, but I have never heard of this. Thank you.
