Every wonder how to properly perform a push-up? This step by step guide will explain how to get the best workout while doing the minimum required reps. How to stay safe and injury free by properly performing this exercise is also featured.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Proper attire for doing pushups. Many people prefer shorts and t-shirt depending on the weather conditions First, you will need to put on some clothes that you feel comfortable doing push-ups in. Including, a comfortable pair of sneakers or running shoes.
Step2
This is the front leaning rest position Now that your ready to begin. Get into the front leaning rest position. In this position
1) Your feet should be no more than several inches apart
2) Your back should be straight
3) your hands should be in a comfortable position on the floor
4) Arms straight
5) Head and neck should be up.
Step3
For a count of one. Lower your body until your chest touches the floor. Make sure that your body remains straight and that you use your arm, chest and shoulder strength to lower your body, this should be done in a slow controlled manner. Once your chest can barely touch the floor, Pause.
Step4
Now to complete the push-up. Keeping your body straight, extend your arms until you return to the starting position.
Step5
Now you have completed a push-up. Repeat the desired exercise until you have reached the point of muscle exhaustion and are unable to do any more.
