Things You'll Need:
- Small amount of money
- Television
- DVD player
- VCR
-
Step 1
Be careful where you buy your movies. Some stores are cheaper than others even for movies that have just been released. For best results, look around town and choose the store that most often has the best prices.
-
Step 2
Buy used movies. Used movies, also known as previously viewed movies, are often a lot cheaper than the new versions. You can find these affordable movies at most movie rental stores.
-
Step 3
Buy right away for blockbuster movies. Although it may seem backward, when most large-scale movies get released to DVD, they are the cheapest in the beginning. After a certain amount of time, the price will go up. Be sure to get a new blockbuster within the first few weeks.
-
Step 4
Purchase more obscure movies later. If you’re looking for that latest independent movie, it’s a better idea to wait before buying. Unlike blockbusters, these start out expensive and go down from there. Wait, if you can.
-
Step 5
Find deals at estate and garage sales. During the summer when all of the best yard sales are in full swing, check out their movies. You can usually find a good assortment of DVDs and VHS for much cheaper than you’ll ever find in stores.
