Here is an easy way to make a delicious black forest cake.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 (20 oz) cans tart pitted cherries undrained
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 (9in) chocolate cake layers baked and cooled
  • 3 c. cold whipped cream
  • 1/3 c. confectioner's sugar
  1. Step 1

    Split cake layers in half horizontally.

  2. Step 2

    Crumble one half and set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Beat whipped cream and confectioner's sugar with mixer until peaks form. Reserve 1 1/2 c. for decorative piping.

  4. Step 4

    Set down one layer and top with 1 c. whipped cream and 3/4 c. cherry.

  5. Step 5

    Set down second layer on top of the first and cover with 1 c. whipped cream and 3/4 c. cherry

  6. Step 6

    Set the third layer on top of the second and frost sides with remaining cream and pat with cake crumbs.

  7. Step 7

    Use the remaining cherry topping and cream for top of the cake.
