Things You'll Need:
- 2 (20 oz) cans tart pitted cherries undrained
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 (9in) chocolate cake layers baked and cooled
- 3 c. cold whipped cream
- 1/3 c. confectioner's sugar

Step 1
Split cake layers in half horizontally.

Step 2
Crumble one half and set aside.

Step 3
Beat whipped cream and confectioner's sugar with mixer until peaks form. Reserve 1 1/2 c. for decorative piping.

Step 4
Set down one layer and top with 1 c. whipped cream and 3/4 c. cherry.

Step 5
Set down second layer on top of the first and cover with 1 c. whipped cream and 3/4 c. cherry

Step 6
Set the third layer on top of the second and frost sides with remaining cream and pat with cake crumbs.

Step 7
Use the remaining cherry topping and cream for top of the cake.
